What is “spiritual direction”?
While it is true that the title “spiritual director” has been in use for many centuries, it has fallen into disuse; this ancient practice is often unknown or misunderstood especially in Protestant communities. It might be better understood as “spiritual friendship” or “spiritual companionship”; deeply concerned with listening for God in the midst of our everyday life. We “direct” our attention to the Holy Spirit’s work and call to action in our life. A helpful image may be of the two walking along the road to Emmaus deeply engaged in spiritual conversation and encountering Jesus in their midst.
About myself, Ann McCallum: I am a graduate of the Emmaus Formation Centre, where I was trained as a Spiritual Director. I have been practicing Spiritual Direction for more than 6 years, and would love to have a complementary introductory session with you to explore whether Spiritual Direction is for you.

Supervision of Spiritual Directors
In Supervision, I hold space for you to look at your spiritual direction practice, so that you can grow and become more aware of who you are as a Spiritual Director. I do this by examining your session to assist you with skills development and consultation, and by reflecting on your inner movements during that session. For the sake of the you the Director, I bring affirmation, education, consultation, self-reflection and challenge to each Supervision Session..
